Travel Sketching with Tony McNeight

On my return from sailing around Greece with a sketchbook, I thought it would be fun to share the joy of sketching I had with others. I have now been teaching travel sketching in Devonport and Takapuna since 2016.

Since 2016, I’ve had over 2,500 beginners through my 8-week classes enjoying showing them how easy it is to actually 'travel sketch' — including DYC Social Officer, Emma Cliffe. This has also led to me taking sketch tours to Fiji, Niue, Tasmania, Sri Lanka and Spain as well as within NZ.

There is something wonderful about sketching that makes you just stop and really look. All you need is a book and a pen and some watercolour pencils or watercolour paint ( which are part of my class kit ) and away you go.

My classes are small, tailored, and fun with people coming out of the first class saying,

"Gosh I never thought I could do that!"

Many of my students have taken their portable sketchbook and materials on adventures around the globe by land or sea, and its always great to see them coming back to class to share their experiences and show their books.
