Rose Noelle
Flipside

Thursday 4th March –
Saturday 13th March 2010
TAPAC Theatre, Western
Springs
“Never underestimate the
power of water!”
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Matt Halliday, I am the Marketing
Manager for SmackBang Theatre Company, the new professional Theatre Company
in Residence at TAPAC, Western Springs.
Sailing and the ocean have always been a
huge part of NZ life. Flipside tells the true story of four men confronting
the elements, each other and themselves in the overturned tri-maran,
Rose-Noelle. The capsizing of the Rose-Noelle has been part of New Zealand
folklore for over twenty years; John Glennie, James Nalepka, Rick Hellriegel
and Phil Hoffman embarked on what should have been a long-yet-fortuitous
journey to Tonga only to be hit by a storm, tipping the boat upside down and
stranding them in the Pacific Sea for a then record 119 days.
As the first play up in our 2010 season at
our new home, SmackBang Theatre Company wanted to choose a play that spoke
in volumes about who and what we are. What better way to do this than with a
great New Zealand play about a great New Zealand pastime.
I feel privileged to have the opportunity to
be a part of this work in a mark of respect to the four brave men of the
Rose-Noelle, and also to New Zealand’s unique maritime history. I hope you
will join me in this tribute.
This show will be a perfect night out for
all ocean-goers. I’d like to offer you a special group price or the
opportunity to use this show as a fundraising event for your club with
tickets available at a heavily discounted rate – please see the following
page for full details.
Kind Regards
Matt Halliday
Marketing Manager
SmackBang Theatre Co.
Special group ticket offers for Flipside:
Group ticket offer
The show is the perfect night out for
sailing and ocean fans, and a great introduction to a live show for those
that may not regularly attend theatre. We can offer groups of six or more
tickets at the special rate of $20 each (plus service fees).
We are encouraging teams to come along
especially on Tuesday 9th March for a bit of a club night. So get the whole
crew together, skip training and come down for a bit of ‘team-building’.
